I believe a lot of people our age in today's world see sex as just another form of social interaction or rather, a recreational activity. This is exceptionally profound in your college and university experience, especially if you're studying overseas, where I'm sure you would have met many people who are sexually active. I don't know about you, but my decision to wait has triggered a wide range of reactions from different people - from shock, to laughter, to ridicule and even confusion. Most times when I get questioned about this decision, I have nothing to say besides something along the lines of, "it's a religion thing." I hope this video explains this a lot better than I have explained it before this. God bless.

My First Day in Glow United

All because of my mum!

If you were to ask me why I joined Glow United, that would be my first answer to you.

So I was encouraged, coaxed, pushed and threatened (or else I would have to join my parents’ cell with all the uncles and aunties!) to join a cell this year when I start college.

Before leaving my house on that Friday night, my mum told me “Make new friends!” I feel like my first day of kindergarten all over again; my first day in primary school, secondary school and college. She always tells me the same thing.

Making new friends has been a problem for me since I was small. It was something that I have never been good at. I remember this conversation with my friend long time ago.

Friend: “This is how you make friends - First you go to them, smile, and tell them your name.”

Me: “That’s so scary.”

Friend: “Then you start making conversations.”

Me: “The weather?”

Friend: “You can ask how are they doing today?”

Me: “But I don’t really care about that... I don’t know them.”

Friend: “Get to know them better, maybe ask what their parents are working as.”

Me: “Why would I want to know what their parents work as?!”

Friend: “Never mind.”

I’m actually quite a talkative person. But when I meet new people or strangers, I get tongue-tied and very nervous. I don’t know how to start a conversation, I don’t know how to present myself in front of a group of people I just met, so I’ll stay quiet. I rather let somebody else make the first move to come and talk to me. If nobody comes then I’ll just keep to myself.

A friend who knows me for a long time once said that to strangers, I’m an introvert; but to people I know well or close friends, I’m an extrovert.

I just don’t make new friends because I don’t know how to. I feel very, very uncomfortable to be with a group of people I don’t know. All the friends I have right now, they took the initiative to get to know me first, which I thank God so much! Or else I might have my mum and sister as my only Facebook friends and no Farmville neighbours. ~~Sad.~~

Back to my first day in cell, my dad dropped me in church and I was very nervous. I actually thought of going back home and try to come for cell the next week. What if I don’t make any friends? What if I feel so left out? What if they think I’m weird? (Actually I am, but you’re not supposed to know that the first time you meet me).

My first day in cell was also the first cell of the year. After a round of introduction, I tried my best to remember everybody’s name. I was thinking that the least I can do in learning how to make friends is to remember other people’s names. And I could remember everyone’s names except for 2 guys.

During cell I barely spoke. I kept to myself and I felt awkward. Very, very awkward. I didn't know what else to do but to listen to anyone who was speaking. I kept playing with my fingers and I didn’t make eye contact with anyone when they talked to me. I was actually secretly hoping I didn't need to talk at all.

My first impression of Glow was that the people in this cell laugh so easily. Such a cheerful, adorable, lovable, fun and full-of-sunshine type of group. Great, everything I’m not. Am I in the right cell?

I came for my first cell feeling shy and awkward and I left that night feeling even more awkward. But there was a different kind of feeling in me. It’s like the laughter from cell was still ringing in my head and I was in a good mood. Perhaps some of their cheerfulness rubbed off on me already.

That night, my mum was waiting for me at home and of course, her first question was “Did you make any friends?” Well, I guess I did, but I don’t know.

And the next Friday night I found myself back in cell again.

I shall not bore you to death by describing the next 9 months I had in cell. But here I am, attended Glow United for the past 9 months and will continue to do so.

I’m not shy anymore in Glow (obviously), which means that I have become open and comfortable in cell. I have transformed from an introvert to an extrovert. I don’t know how, or when, but I made friends in Glow! And I’m sure it’s not because I made the first move, I’m too shy to do that. So I guess everyone in Glow actually came to get to know me better.

Thank you Glow people, you all really put a glow in my life since I joined cell. I made new friends! Now people actually say hi to me in church because they know me. Every week I can look forward for Friday nights because cell is so happening and exciting! I can laugh easily like my cell people now, because I learned it from them. I am exposed to so much more about the Bible and God since I joined cell. And have I mentioned I made new friends?!!

In January, making new friends was not something I expected for the year but God is good and I believe every single person I met in Glow United and Couz is a blessing from God to me.

I think I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again – I made new friends!!! And I didn’t even need to ask them what their parents work as.

Now that you're getting to know me better, you’re becoming ‘old’ friends already, haha!

On the 18th of June instead of cell, we hung out at Lindy's!

Well the girls had this GREAT idea of challenging the guys to taboo. And Suresh joined the dark(girl) side.

Wenly then set the punishment for the losers as, the winning team gets to pull the guys' leg hair! or guys pull girls' hair, 3 strands!

And so it begins!!

I had an awesome time having dinner with Jolin, Melissa Kok and Wenly! I think I really got to know them better through our cell assignment.

Jolin's Story
Jolin became a Christian when she was 14 years old. At that time, she was the only one in her family who accepted Christ. So, whenever she wanted to go to church, her parents would say that they were lazy to fetch her. However, Jolin was a very stubborn child. She would tell her parents that if they don't want to fetch her, she'll just take a cab. Then, she'll walk out of the house and slowly, slowly walk under the hot sun. To get out of her housing area to the main road was a pretty long walk but Jolin was too stubborn to turn back and would continue to walk. At the same time, she'll wonder why her parents hadn't called her yet. Finally, after walking all the way to the main road, her mother would call her and agree to send her to church.

Melissa's Story
We learned to never be fooled by Melissa's innocent looks. She was actually a very naughty child who ran away from home once! :)

Wenly's Story
Wenly had wayyy too many stories ;) When she was 5, and attended another church they has this VBS camp thing. Wenly was a very mean child. So one day during VBS camp, they visited some place somewhere and had lunch. Wenly was the 'popular' girl with her 'popular' group of friends. Then this other 5 year old girl came up to their table and said ,"Wenly, can I sit here?". Wenly said yes but actually she didn't want the girl to sit there. Then, Wenly's friend, the other 'popular' girl said, "Yer, this table so full already! I don't want to sit here!" & Wenly said, "Yealah! They all laa!" & signaled to the poor little girl who had just joined them. Wenly was a VERY, VERY mean child. She also had VERY, VERY short hair in secondary school. You all should go look for her old Facebook pictures & have a good laugh :)

Tammy's Story
When I was 9, Stephanie's dad bought a new house. So he asked my parents to go take a look at it. So my parents & I went. When we reached, Stephanie invited me to go play at the playground. So off we went, Steph, her cousin and I! Then we sat on that 'springy seesaw thing' (I hope you all know what I'm talking about) cuz Steph said it was very fun. Steph and I sat on the 'springy seesaw thing' while her cousin shook it. Then her cousin started to shake the 'springy seesaw thing' really hard and I could feel myself going forward very fast. Suddenly, I hit my head on the 'springy seesaw thing' & a small part of one of my two front teeth chipped into a million pieces. Steph said I cried a lot but I don't remember.

Proudly presenting to you G1!! *clap clap* We have the most awesome pastor, Pastor Lindy! We have the soon-to-be doctor, Melissa Wong! We have a pretty newcomer, Vinnie Yeoh and finally, we have the jobless Stephanie Yap! Let's not waste more time and the story begins.

Lindy and Her 50 Cents
Back in her primary school days.. Lindy's parents are two loving parents who care for their children. As a result, junk food is a big NO NO to them. Lindy was not given any pocket money to school back then so she will not have any money to get any of the junk food!

She will be always eating food that her mum prepared for her. Lindy is a very lucky girl! She has this lil friend who came to her and asked, "Hey you don't have money again ar? Nah, I give you 50 cents lar!" Little naive Lindy said nothing but took it from her and happily she ran to the canteen to get her snacks! This is not once or twice but it ALWAYS happens! Cheeky Lindy did not reject her offer whenever it comes to 50 cents! The story did not end there because when Lindy was in her high school, the same thing happened! The only difference is the daily 50 cents supplier is not the person in her primary school days!

Mel and Her Life in UK
There was a few years of Mel and her family was abroad over in the UK. She missed her school days where she and few other girls were singing on the bench in school. They didn't bother bout the passerby and they simply felt like a superstar! (so gossip girl feel eh!) Besides, she has this friend who lives at the hilltop and they were very good friends. Mel used to visit her friend and had sleepovers! Life was just so amazing back then!

Vinnie and Her Childhood Friend
Vinnie has this very good childhood friend that they practically do everything together. Not to mention that both the families are close family friends. So they are always on vacation together! Vinnie misses very much because after she has moved, they weren't as close as before. But she still cherish the moments where they has their playtime together!

Steph and Her Lovely Parents
Steph was the only child till she was 7. Pampered and spoilt. Remembering back then when she was in primary school, she had classes from 745am-445pm because there is no one at home that's why she has to attend a full day school. Chinese schools often has art class and computer classes as an extra subject. This happened to be the same for Steph.

Her schedule is always very very pack with activities. Weekdays she has to practice piano and do her homework. What can her parents help out when both parents are not chinese literate? ART!! Yes, both her parents were so nice that they helped her to colour her drawings. Steph is very fussy and particular when it comes to colours. She will pick the colours and her parents will colour for her. How nice to have parents doing your work for you?

Alex's Childhood Memory........... (he force me to write this...)

I was still a kid (13 1/2) when this accident happened.

on that day, i was going out with my daddy, for playing squash. We have some good time at that moment before the accident happened.

My father have a smash on the squash, and I feel surprise and then I fell down and landed with my left hand. The left hand bone was broken and become like this

then my daddy rubbed it back with his bare hand and then become like this (source: Alex's drawing.... again)

My father thought it was okay, but in fact, is pain and I CANNOT CLOSE MY HANDS!!!!

Few weeks later, it was worse. I CANT EVEN TIE MY SHOELACES......

I told my parent about this, but this is what they told me "Alex, dont pretend anymore, ok?" They not believe me .............. (from wenghong: your own parent also not believe you, so now you know how credible you are to us)

After I went for Chinese doctor, he said my hand is broken from inside (???? chinese doctor??)

Then i went for normal doctor (who and where is the abnormal doctor???), he said my hand was broken after he looked at thee X-ray.

"...then viola! my hand now so sexy =p Just that my knuckles didnt grow properly cause i didnt clench my hand to stretch them... " (quoted directly from Alex -.-")

So, this is what Alex has shared to us in Ikea. It is a true story, Alex claimed that. But most of us doubted about it.

Childhood Memoriesss : Hanrick

The art of Kon Lo mee

Dear ignorant glowers of SIBKL,

In an effort to improve your general knowledge, I have compiled this exclusive rare post on how to identify authentic miri Kon Lo Mee!!

Most people in miri speak mandarin and hokkien and almost none speak cantonese. =X
oops. out of topic... Without further ado, I shall begin!

1. Authentic Konlo mee is usually packed in a square shaped manner as shown below.

2. It is usually skillfully wrapped with a layer of newspaper to preserve heat within!
3. Upon opening, authentic Miri tapau konlo mee comes wrapped with a layer of plastic!
4. This is generally how an authentic miri kon lo mee looks like =) The packaging is perfect so you can eat without needing to use a plate! Most people eat with disposable chopsticks which you break the middle ... If you know what I mean =p

5. Kon Lo mee's have "chung" sprinkled on it =) and comes with char siew.
6. Sarawak kon lo mee char siew is pale and does not have any strong flavours! Those you find in kl is usually the wantan mee type of char siew. Eeeww! =p

7. Wantan is usually available with konlo mee, but only on request =) In this case it cost rm0.50 to add 4 pieces of wantan to the kon lo mee! Omgosh!

8. This set costs rm 3.50 with wantan. But in some places, you can get it for less than rm3!

9. The noodles are extra springy and the texture is out of the world!

10. The flavour is not too sweet nor salty! It does come with dark sauce as well if you want, but most people prefer eating this, this way. =) Another authentic type of mee is mee pok. Which has the same ingredients but it is broader in shape!
Remember to eat kon lo mee when you get to sarawak!

7 Stations of the Cross

Harlow, Chap Goh Mei just over and I think its time to back to our usual routine again :) Here's a MAJOR announcement for all of us!

In conjunction of Easter, church will be organizing an experiential journey for us - 7 Stations of the Cross! What will happen is that - the committee will decorate the rooms into the 7 stations that Jesus went through - starting from Last Supper to the Death on the Cross. We will see, feel and experience what Jesus went to throughout the journey! I believe one of the station will touch your heart!

The date of the event is 23rd March (Tuesday), 7:30pm, we will participate as a cell. Please take note that this event is only meant for cell due to logistics problem.

Ok, that's for the event, BUT as for us - in order to get us prepared for the event, we will spend 2 Fridays to look into 2 of the 7 stations, in order to get the full out of this, I would like everyone to bring the physical Bible (don't use the e-Bible in your phone!).

Ok la we'll talk more about it in cell, see you guys this Friday!

1) Everyone grow deeper in relationship with God.
2) An increment in the number of cell members.

The challenge, as we begin our studies on who Jesus Christ (of Nazareth) is, is that we are ‘forced’ to eventually come to a decision. Either he is God, or he is not. If He is, then we are to accept Him as Lord and Master as well. All our knowledge of Him must be known with the mind, accepted with the heart and acted out in life.

Mr Alex: Hmm this is seriously a question to ponder, Mr Interviewer.*touches chin thoughtfully* Fortunately I have many answers to your question.

Mr Alex: With my powers of deduction unlocked by the series of Sherlock Holmes and gifted to me by the Royal Highness Himself, one thing I have concluded is that some people of the more matured age require companions for them in their lives. Mr Interviewer: That is highly thoughtful, Mr Alex. Please do continue.

Mr Alex: It will be a glad thing if the cell continues to expand more and more continuously, not only in numbers, but also spiritually whereby members will experience spiritual maturity. I quote,

Mr Alex: *calm and composed look* Well, fortunately we still have the other core members and more core members will arise from this cell which has more than just a few gems in it. We will hold together and although they will be missed, our performance will not waver. I also hope together, as one, we will gain more knowledge together to serve the Kingdom through experience in the field, and probably classes which teach us more to interact with the non-believers better, how to share and how to cope if bombarded with sudden questions.

5 things I'll fall for in a girl:
1. Spiritual maturity
Sometimes dating a christian just is not enough. She need not be better than I am, or the same level, but just not too far. Technically it would be fine, but if both are levels are too far apart it can be quite hard. An example would be if she is a on off church goer, and I on the other hand is at church at times 6 days a week (which does happen) all fired up, I dont see things going smoothly.
2. Independent, secure and up for adventures!
I'd like an independent girl who can do well on her own, initiate things on her own. Also a girl who is secure with herself and not too clingy. God made the earth like a big playground, with lots of challenges (be it outdoor challenges or other challenges in our daily life) so let's take it on and go for this adventure!
3. Smart + good artistic taste
Having intellectual discussions on science, politics, technology is sexy! Also able to give opinions (give, not necessarily share the same opinion) on art work, music and creativity.
4. Lady like
I'd fall for a girl who can carry herself well, the way she speaks, her posture, dress decently with a good fashion sense. I do not mean designer brands, its just simple things like color matching, clothes that compliments her body shape, etc. [note to girls: guys these days are well informed, we do know when your shoes dont match your top]
5. Hygiene
This will sound sexist: girls that are unhygienic are no way attractive, but guys can get away with it!

10 things BEFORE 30:
1. Get my degree in mechanical engineering so I can make my parents proud, and hence, pass them that piece of paper so I can go chase number 2 (read below)
2. Make my childhood dream of being an audio engineer and owning my own production studio a reality. Made the decision when I was 13, and had numerous fights with parents because they never agreed.
3. Maybe play in a few more albums. Still havent worked on something I can say I am truly proud of.
4. Take 1 year off, mission work.
5. I have a notebook with sketches of some ideas of inventions. Hopefully at least one does make it to production.
6. Write a book. Have a few ideas lying around, but never put the effort to start working on them.
7. Attend concerts. There are still some bands I need to catch them live, before I get too old for metal.
8. Bungee jump, skydiving. adrenaline is good yo!
9. Fall in love, get into a relationship, marry her. The whole love story thing. I believe dreams can come true.
10. Gain weight and look healthy and not this pathetic skinny ugly state I am currently in.

My Three Biggest Decision (that I have made)
1. Dedicate my life to God
Comes with alot of challenges and had to let go alot of things I hold onto in my life (but didnt Jesus already warned us that). Not easy, but so far its still the right choice.
2. Take a go, even when I know there's a high chance of me failing.
I made the decision to chase some of my dreams, even though people tell me I will fail, and I myself know that I have a high chance of failing, and there are people who mean alot to me who will say "there I told you so!" the moment I fail. I'd still take a go. I've had a fair share of failures, but sometimes, I made dreams come true. Examples range from me playing guitar to me turning down ASEAN scholarship to me going for the wrong girl.
3. Quit all the rubbish I was doing. (during my early high school days)
Quit bad habits like smoking and distancing from a group of people who were not good influences.

A penny

Several years ago, a friend of mine and her husband were invited to spend the weekend at the home of her husband's employer.
My friend, Arlene, was nervous about the weekend. The boss was very wealthy, with a fine home on the waterway, and cars costing more than her house..

The first day and evening went well, and Arlene was delighted to have this rare glimpse into how the very wealthy live. Her husband's employer was quite generous as a host, and took them to the finest restaurants. Arlene knew she would never have the opportunity to indulge in this kind of extravagance again, so was enjoying herself immensely.

As the three of them were about to enter an exclusive restaurant one evening, the boss was walking slightly ahead of Arlene and her husband.
He stopped suddenly, looking down on the pavement for a long, silent moment.
Arlene wondered if she was supposed to pass him. There was nothing on the ground except a single darkened penny that someone had dropped, and a few cigarette butts. Still silent, the man reached down and picked up the penny.
He held it up and smiled, then put it in his pocket as if he had found a great treasure.
How absurd! What need did this man have for a single penny? Why would he even take the time to stop and pick it up?

Throughout dinner, the entire scene nagged at her. Finally, she could stand it no longer. She casually mentioned that her daughter once had a coin collection, and asked if the penny he had found had been of some value.

A smile crept across the man's face as he reached into his pocket for the penny and held it out for her to see. She had seen many pennies before! What was the point of this?

"Look at it," he said. "Read what it says."
She read the words, " United States of America .."

"No, not that. Read further."

"One cent?"
"No, keep reading."

"In God we Trust?"
"Yes!"
"And?. . ."

"And if I trust in God, the name of God is holy, even on a coin. Whenever I find a coin, I see that inscription. It is written on every single United States coin, but we never seem to notice it! God drops a message right in front of me telling me to trust Him. Who am I to pass it by? When I see a coin, I pray. I stop to see if my trust IS in God at that moment. I pick the coin up as a response to God; that I do trust in Him. For a short time, at least, I cherish it as if it were gold. I think it is God's way of starting a conversation with me. Lucky for me, God is patient and pennies are plentiful!"

When I was out shopping today, I found a penny on the sidewalk. I stopped and picked it up, and realized that I had been worrying and fretting in my mind about things I cannot change. I read the words, "In God We Trust," and had to laugh. "Yes, God, I get the message!"

It seems that I have been finding an inordinate number of pennies in the last few months, but then, pennies are plentiful! And, God is patient.

Thought for the Day:

If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.

He sends you flowers every spring.

He sends you a sunrise every morning.
Face it, friend - He is crazy about you!

I play the saxaphone. Been playing for 2-3 months? I can play songs already =D
I play the guitar. Learning actually. I can play C, G, E and A. Awesome.
I watch tv. and eat. and sleep. A lot. No kidding, I woke up at 4pm today.

My passion?

and music. All types really. More inclined to jazz, funk, blues. You get the picture.

*Bf vs God.... i've always had things my way. preferred it over God's. However, i realized that my ways have limits and just cant get me where and what i want. Only then i looked up to God to say 'Father please help here, i need some strength to continue the fight' Of course with God its either Him or the World. My Bf (now ex) had always been my world. He really meant the whole world to me then, and I couldnt imagine anything worth living for, past our rltnshp. deep down i knew the rltshp robbed me of my passion for God. I had to reprioritize, put God first and just delete the rltnshp from the list. Just as simple as this, but it hasnt been easy at all. Finally after over a year i was bold enough to say.."look, i'm letting go of us so that i can live for God' (i thought, you know if its true love it will survive this test) Ever since, i feel like a conqueror! My time will come, i'll have a bf/fiancee when time's right.

Seek God 1st, and make Him the foundation of your relationships. Or invite Him into the messes of your life and let Him take over.

*Completely surrendering my life to God. ( as in Romans 12, preferably NLT version) i've overcome the fear of any challenges and hardships that might come my way as a result of living for God. 2Timothy3:12 , in NKJV was discouraging at first but now i've made up my mind, the trouble will be worth double blessings!

*I feel so light now, i'm an overcomer! With God by my side, my career path will be straightened and i'll marry the right man at the right time. yes, seek God and you will be assured of this. All i needed was God. and in short my 3 biggest decisions were 1) letting go of all that distanced me from God, then 2.)actually committing myself to serving God and 3.)staying true to the person He has made me be.

Halleluyah! I love God. He's amazing, beyond what any diction in this world can explain. He will fill that space in You, and through Him you will have peace and joy. God Bless y'all. I pray that He will touch you too like He touched me, and even better. in Jesus' name, Amen.

Dear All,

In Every Season of our lives. As we grow, whether you like it or not. We some how will make decision. Decision to follow Jesus whole heartedly, trust in Him, surrender everything back to Him, turn away from wicked sins, what course to study, which uni to enroll, career paths, yes or no to the boy/gal, and etc.

If you determine to be obedient to God, honor him in every decision you make, I am glad for you. God will not shortage you. IF only we know and so clear of what he wants us to do, where to go and which DECISION TO MAKE.

HOWEVER, the journey in our lives is not as easy as we think, it has been so challanging for me. Especially when we are at the crossroad and God is silent.

After all, I know that God is telling me "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the LORD (Jeremiah 29:11-14)

I remember that last year, I listened to John C Maxwell was talking about Managing Decisions. Some of the highlights in his talk was

Successful people make important decisions early of their life and they manage their decisions the rest of their life.

Making decisions is overrated, managing decisions is underrated.

1. Girl(s)
Be it relationship or life partner. She needs to have personality, character, values and most importantly, looks. I mean, she's got to look hot too cause, you don't wanna wake up every day and first thing you see's a monster. I'm still a guy with hormones. God made me this way :)

2. Future
Career or ministry, I don't wanna go against God's will cause I'm a good boy. And besides, you'll prosper in anything as long as it's God's will for you. So it'll be quite cool if God's will for me is in the marketplace and I end up making lots of money. Not saying that money's good, but it's definitely not bad.

3. My Entourage
Everyone have friends. Just whether good or bad. So I wanna surround myself with good people like these wonderful people from Glow United (yes, i'm being sarcastic :P). They're gonna influence you whether you like it or not so you better choose them carefully cause you don't wanna end up dealing drugs and getting shot in the head when you get caught. If you get caught. :D

honestly.... nvr think about it.... coz still young to think... and because i am an Aquarius.... typical Aquarius, i change my decision every 10 seconds :p thats my nature..... sorrry

but right now, i think lah...should be:

1. choose the right JOB (I happy with the working style, environment and the colleague, and i like the job very much)

2. choose the right FRIEND (they influence us the most..... get into wrong type of friend, it means you are gone forever...)

These are the points I remember from September 09's couz night event,
"A Love Affair!"!!

I think it's good to post this here for random blog browsers to read them XD and even remind those who went for the event!

(in random order)
1. Sometimes you have to let go =)

2. Sometimes its the right person but wrong time

3. You have to be satisfied with being single before you dwell into a relationship =p

4. Don't look for someone to complete you, like just say you are 50% complete and you're looking for another 50% from another person, that's wrong. Because the other 50% might not be the 50% you need and you'll just be looking to take, take and take to fulfill yourself to 100% which is WRONG!

5. You should have a list of non-negotiables. Like things that you MUST have in the person you want which totally cannot be negotiable. Such as you need the person to be a christian or/and a non smoker or the person must honor their parents and have good relationship with all his friends. Like the person must have a true face in front of you and not doing other things when you aren't looking.

6. When you go into a relationship you must already be ready for marriage. Like having marriage in mind. Don't just do it only to get the experience. Relationship is like a tunnel and marriage is the end of the tunnel.

7. Don't send mixed signals to the other party. Some people enjoy the attention they get and although they say no, they give mixed signals like "still got hope" and things like that.

8. The person you are with will not only bring out the best in you but also bring the worst in you. So, you must expect worse than worst =p And everyone has flaws. So don't expect them to not do wrong, you have to know if you can live with their shortcomings.

9. It's best to first wait, before committing into a relationship once the other party has shown interest(or once you show interest). Interest as in the person ask you directly to enter a relationship. This is the period you observe them and how they act.

10. Remember, in a relationship you have be careful and think before you act. When you're in love you're 95% emotional and 5% spiritual. In the heat of your emotions you might decide things or say things without thinking and probably send the wrong message or end up doing something you regret.

11.Be careful, a relationship can change, make or destroy a person's life. It is not a game.

12. Lastly, once you get into marriage, there is no such thing as divorce. There's no way back. So you have to really really make up your mind completely before get into marriage or engagement.

Hey Glowers!

Hope you guys are having a great time when you're reading this. As most of you know, I'll be / I'm away to Hainan for work purpose.

Although this is my second trip, but this time I definitely feel harder to leave this place compare to the first time due to many reasons, but one of them are you people!

You all have been such a great people in cell, and you have no idea how much joy I have everytime I see all of you. Reason being is because you college people, willing to spend your Friday night in cell to learn the Word of God rather than other places where usually college students will be on Friday night :)

It's a joy to see also - that all of you have grown in character. I've seen you guys rising up, taking up responsibility, and also making cell like a family! I believe one day you guys will rise up as leader to lead the next generation!

You people has made GLOW United such a joyful place to be! That is why I feel harder to leave this time ahhaha. So you people take care ya! I'll see you all when I'm back, and I'll be waiting for the 'winning' sms :)

Why Did Jesus Fold the Napkin?

Got this from an email long ago, thought i might share it with you guys!

Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection? I never noticed this... .

The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave clothes. The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded, and was placed at the head of that stony coffin.

Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, 'They have taken the Lord's body out of the tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!' Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see.. The other disciple outran Peter and got there first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head was folded up and lying to the side.

Was that important? Absolutely! Is it really significant? Yes!

In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day. The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition.When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it. The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table, until the master was finished.

Now if the master were done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table.The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, 'I'm done'.

But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because..... .....

The folded napkin meant, 'I'm coming back!'

The St. Basil's Cathedral is located on the Red Square in Moscow , Russia .
A Russian Orthodox church, the Cathedral sports a series of colorful bulbous domes that taper to a point,

The church is named after the Icelandic poet and clergyman Hallgrmur Ptursson (1614 to 1674), author of the Passion Hymns.
State Architect Gujn Samelsson's design of the church was commissioned in 1937; it took 38 years to build it.

Temppeliaukio Kirkko: The Rock Church
The Temppeliaukio Kirkko ( Rock Church ) is a thrilling work of modern architecture in Helsinki.
Completed in 1952, it is built entirely underground and has a ceiling made of copper wire.
It was designed by architect brothers Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen and completed in 1969.
They chose a rocky outcrop rising about 40 feet above street level, and blasted out the walls from the inside.
It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Helsinki and frequently full of visitors.

Cathedral of Braslia: The Modern Church of architect Oscar Niemeyer
The Catedral Metropolitana Nossa Senhora Aparecida in the capital of Brazil is an expression of the architect Oscar Niemeyer.
This concrete-framed hyperboloid structure, seems with its glass roof to be reaching up,
open, to heaven. On 31 May 1970, the Cathedral's structure was finished,
and only the 70 m diameter of the circular area were visible.
Niemeyer's project of Cathedral of Braslia is based in the hyperboloid of revolution which sections are asymmetric.
The hyperboloid structure itself is a result of 16 identical assembled concrete columns.
These columns, having hyperbolic section and weighing 90 t, represent two hands moving upwards to heaven.
The Cathedral was dedicated on 31 May 1970.

Borgund Church: Best Preserved Stave ChurchThe Borgund Stave Church in Lrdal is the best preserved of Norway 's 28 extant stave churches.
This wooden church, probably built in the end of the 12th century, has not changed structure
or had a major reconstruction since the date it was built.

The church is also featured as a Wonder for the Viking civilization in the video game Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings.

Las Lajas Cathedral: A Gothic Church Worthy of a Fairy Tale
The Las Lajas Cathedral is located in southern Colombia and built in 1916 inside the canyon of the Guaitara River. According to the legend, this was the place where an indian woman named Mara Mueses de Quiones was carrying her deaf-mute daughter Rosa on her back near Las Lajas ("The Rocks"). Weary of the climb, the Mara sat down on a rock when Rosa spoke (for the first time) about an apparition in a cave.

Later on, a mysterious painting of the Virgin Mary carrying a baby was discovered on the wall of the cave. Supposedly, studies of the painting showed no proof of paint or pigments on the rock - instead, when a core sample was taken, it was found that the colors were impregnated in the rock itself to a depth of several feet. Whether true or not, the legend spurred the building of this amazing church.

St. Joseph Church: Known for its Thirteen Gold Domed Roof
The St. Joseph The Betrothed is an Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church in Chicago .
Built in 1956, it is most known for its ultra-modern thirteen gold domed roof symbolizing the twelve apostles and Jesus Christ as the largest center dome.
The interior of the church is completely adorned with byzantine style icons (frescoes).
Unfortunately the iconographer was deported back to his homeland before he was able to
write the names of all the saints as prescribed by iconographic traditions.

Ruica Church: Where Chandeliers are made of Bullet Shells
Located over the Kalemegdan Fortress in Belgrade, Serbia, the Ruica Church is a small chapel decorated with... with trench art! Its chandeliers are entirely made of spent bullet casing, swords, and cannon parts.

The space the church now occupies was used by the Turks as gunpowder storage for over 100 years and it had to be largely rebuilt in 1920 after WWI. Though damaged by bombings there was an upshot to the terrible carnage of The Great War. While fighting alongside England and the US , Serbian soldiers on the Thessaloniki front took the time to put together these amazing chandeliers. It is one of the world's finest examples of trench art.

Chapel of St-Gildas: Built into the base of a bare rocky cliff
The Chapel of St-Gildas sits upon the bank of the Canal du Blavet in Brittany, France . Built like a stone barn into the base of a bare rocky cliff, this was once a holy place of the Druids. Gildas appears to have travelled widely throughout the Celtic world of Corwall, Wales , Ireland and Scotland . He arrived in Brittany in about AD 540 and is said to have preached Christianity
to the people from a rough pulpit, now contained within the chapel.

Hey,

DanLo's here.

It’s going to be my 3rd year growing in this cell. From Simply Younited to Glow united. And soon, we are going to multiply again. And YES! I am prophesying. Happily serving with my be loving Pastor (Lindy) and my brothers (Jee Wang and Tzyy Jeng) and with a bunge of most happening cell members is such a privilege, a joy and blessing to see people grow as I do, the passion and simply loving God. Many have added to this family to believe that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, to worship and to fellowship together.

God has blessed us such a love and unity even those who are studying abroad are felt belonging to this family. Praise God! Everyone has left some foot prints in my heart. Sadly, though few have left us, I pray that you don’t leave God for no matter what, you are part of us. This reminds me of Luke 15:4 "Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? Jesus loves you, He will never leave you nor forsake you, and He is waiting with his open arms.

I take pride and have to shout till my lung out, “I’m in the BEST cell group on earth.” Of cause, I am not saying we are great people but I just love my cell so much and humble to say that we are Ordinary people doing Extraordinary things for Jesus. And of cause, my Youth Zone TCIA is the best of the BEST.lolz! Just Kidding:) We do not think of ourselves more highly than we ought.

God has been constantly reminding me to be faithful in little things and the things that he has entrusted me. I hope I am faithful and pleasing God. I am still checking myself.

Few months ago, I resigned from my first job due to some reasons. Then, I was uncertain of my direction. I had pondered about it what I want to do in this economy downturn season. I was praying, fasting and seeking his will in my life. Dad and many friends of mine were supporting me to follow my dad footsteps in his business. I never thought of doing this at this early age, but I had tried for 2weeks working for my dad. As you know the feeling, it was really tough working for your “own dad”. Yet, I was working hard with a teachable attitude eagerly to learn more of skills and get familiar with the industry.

Things were in a progress until one day; my beloved mum told me that she wanted me to find a job to work. I felt that she was very selfish. Honestly, I was so upset and angry. I did not talk to her for few weeks. Ever since I was high school year 3, she always put criticism every time I told her of my dreams at every stage of my life. However, with a step of obedience, once again I obeyed my parents as God told so. God has opened the door and blessed me a job.

As I remembered I was crying out to God of all my hurts and sufferings, “Why My Mum Is So Selfish?” I believe God has answered my prayer recently and he is teaching me to have the “Balance”. Many times in the past, I had the gang-ho spirit to come out and work on my business plans and to pursue my dreams. But today, I know that God has putting my mum to have this “Balance” this part of my journey of life. She is stopping me from going wild, aggressive and making unwise decisions. She is helping me to go slow at times when I was impatient; humble myself to know that I am not ready for the big things.

Today, I learn about “BALANCE”.

You may be a person who doesn’t wait things happen, you make things happen. Excellent Attitude!!! But there is a phrase saying, “Do not act until God tells you to do so is the act of maturity”. We need Balance!

The books teach us to think positive. But sometimes over positive thinking might lead to over confident and you might miss out some unforeseen circumstances. We need Balance!

No one likes criticisms, and conflicts always create arguments/quarrels. But only through that, things will get better and they challenge us to think outside of the box. Constructive criticisms are good. We need Balance!

And of cause we must love ourselves as appreciation to God’s unique creation. But until you learn how to love others, then you will have breakthrough in your life, by knowing that we are having the same journey and you are blessed by God’s grace. As the bible says you must love your neighbor just as much as you love yourself." We need Balance!

In the corporate world, people take pride to perform excellent works. But humility is even better; you will gain more as the more you humble yourself. We need Balance!

Giving is blessing others and Receiving is blessing from God. In life, we give and take. We learn and teach. We make mistakes and contribute to success. We get wealth and bless the poor.

Once Again! We need Balance!

This morning I took taxi to nearby church, the service here is really different, as in:

If you reach early (before 930am), you’ll join them in bible reading/memorizing, today is on Matt 13:24-30
30 minutes before service starts (9am), they’ll teach us how to sing today’s hymns, first we’ll learn the ‘do-re-mi’ part, then we’ll read the lyrics together, then only we sing the hymns together
I notice the main service is full of older generation adults, wonder if there’s any youth service.
The announcement comes after sermon, and after announcement the service is over, no alter call.
Some of them continue to sit on their bench to pray, actually not some, A LOT of them, abit different from the culture I came from
Even when Pastor asked them to pray, you can see all of them look super serious, if you’re wondering how I know, well .. hehe.
First time visitor need to stand up man, but I didn’t, coz I was abit unsure if I’m in the right service since I’m the only young ppl there.
They don’t collect offering, but there’s a offering box on the way out, people just put their offering box as they go out after service.

After church service, I walked to McD nearby for brunch, and walk back to hotel , almost lost on the way back hahah.

Hi Glowers,

I reached Hainan airport at 1030am.

The hotel I'm staying is quite good, with swimming pool and a small gym. Sorry no pics at the moment coz I forgot to bring the cable to transfer pics hahaha, will post them 1 shot when I'm back.

The weather here is the same a KL, very hot. Office is just 10-15mins away from my hotel so me and my colleagues are gonna walk to the office everyday.

My room has a PC (with internet) and a LCD TV, loaded with local & foreign channels (HBO, CNN), so its actually quite enjoyable ........ if I could have the whole room to myself hahha.

Will keep you guys updated if there's anything interesting happening here, but for now, I gotta get ready to sleep, coz I didn't sleep yesterday ahha.

Ok enough of filling up forms. Im Isaiah and I live at Sentul, Jalan Ipoh, KL. I shall post my testimony in not fewer than 1000 words here when I got the time. I was baptised at the 13th of April 2008 together with my mother and receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit on the 13th of July 2008 which is 3 months later after my water baptism. Just as any Christian, I am just a sinner saved by God's grace. I dont deserve it but its not about me any bit at all. Its all about Jesus. My Lord and my God. What I love the most is being with God's people and worshipping Him in church till i wept my lungs out cause after that I will feel spiritually refreshed. What I can say is my heart belongs to Jesus. Before that I was hollow but now I'm full in Christ Jesus. If you wanna know more, ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock on the door and it will be answered.

5 Things I'll fall for in a girl but not boy:

Godliness, self respect, sporting, caring and of course filled with the love of God! I dont really look at people's appearance though cause I myself are not perfect/angel-like.

10 Things I wanna do before 30:

1) Atleast journey with one of my non Christian friend until he accepts Christs' love.
2) Get married.
3) Have first child.
4) Get a secure job.
5) Ofcourse before everything, pass all the test and examinations.
6) Quit some bad habits.
7) Slim down until I'm in normal BMI.
8) Learn to sing with vibrato or in other words, I wanna sing like a tenor singer.
9) Ofcourse must grow more and more spiritually.
10) Havent think about it.

WORTH THE WAIT

Few of us like to wait - it reminds us we're out of control: we don't like waiting in traffic, in line at the supermarket, at the airport, or when our computers don't process information quickly enough.

The verse "I waited for the Lord and He inclined to me and heard my cry" (Psalm 40) reminds us that waiting is normative for all of us. Scripture tells us story after story of individuals who waited and their story is the same as ours - no matter where we are in life, all of us have waited and are most likely waiting for something.

You may be in the same place or you may be waiting for different things:
* your company's been downsized - you've been waiting for employment;
* your child's turned their back on God and on you - you're waiting for reconciliation;
* your college applications are coming due; you're waiting to find out about how your future will progress;
* your health or the health of someone you love has been failing - you're waiting for relief;
* you are waiting for a partner with whom to share your life.

Whatever the agenda, whatever the broken dream, God does not leave us groveling in a quagmire of confusion. In Psalm 40, God has some important words for us regarding how we can actively deal with the universal condition of waiting.

It's easy when we are waiting to look around at what others have and compare - you know what I mean - God gave that person a good job; God provided that family with successful children; God healed that person of their illness; God gave my friend a spouse...and we finish our statements with the predicate, "why not me?"

Today, maybe that's your cry - you may be having a hard time with waiting for something: Rather than trying to figure it all out and get answers that aren't really going to make you feel any more patient than you felt when you walked in here, why not commit to sharing your burden with another - even today. Tell one other person, "This is what I am waiting for and I need you to wait patiently with me, even for me." Make a commitment to be in this place where the true nature of God is upheld week in and week out; cultivate trusting relationships - these are proactive things you can do while you wait. And if you're not in a time of waiting, maybe you can commit to being there for someone else while they wait.

At it's core, waiting is about becoming more like Christ and relying on God. The psalmist knew from past experience that in spite of his doubts, he had no where else to go but to God - there simply is no other place to go. It's not that waiting is easy or being honest with God always feels good - it may not. But if we are serious about giving our whole selves to God, then the process of waiting is something, that on our days of greatest clarity, we can begin to see as a refining process.

The issue isn't so much what we are waiting for, but what God does with us while we wait. When I look at my own life, I can say with honesty, that the one thing I want more than anything else is to be molded into the image and likeness of Jesus. And I would not trade the moments where I have been on my knees crying out to God, seeking Him and letting go of the control that is so precious to me. Waiting has made me a more broken person-and in my brokenness, I have come to rely upon and know Jesus more deeply than ever before-and I'd never change that reality.

In the famous novel, "The Count of Monte Cristo," Alexander Dumas wrote:
Live then, beloved children of my heart, and never forget that, until the day God deigns to reveal the future to man, the sum of all human wisdom will be contained in these two words: Wait and hope.
As those who follow Jesus Christ, we can wait, because in Him, we have the ultimate gift of hope-and that's a gift that's worth the wait.

My 2008

2008 was the year I enter the marketplace. Transitioning from college to marketplace is suppose to be an exciting event, but it turned out to be a nightmare, and also a turning point for me.

It is then I decided to return to God, and God turned my nightmare into blessing. Days get better each day, and doors of opportunities keep opening for me to learn and grow, such as Strong Man in Tough Time, New Life, 40 days Fasting, serving in NST, KIDZLife, Talent Night, Cell Harvest and many more!

2008 was a also a year of extreme, there're weekly hiking and rock climbing (stopped half way), cycling, and the MOST extreme: climbing mount KK, it was an amazing experience and I encourage everyone to try it at least once.

I'm gonna scrap that Christmas thing off since it doesn't seems like a big deal -.- So my last TOP of my 2008 will be my break (from church stuff) in December. Thank God for that period of time because I really enjoyed the stuff I did (trips, christmas etc.) and able to rest and start 2009 well.

In summary, it was a life-fulfilling year, and every friday night was an awesome night :)

My 2008

2008 isn't what I expected it to be.

Actually I didn't have much expectations for 2008 except for one which was the joy of bumming around for 6-7 months!
However that joy was short-lived (only lasted about a month or so).

But lately, I've been seeing so much and learning so much. My days feel shorter. Even the mundane tasks are making the time tick by faster than usual.
Without expecting anything. God gave me something I could only dream of. But what He gave exceeded my dreams.
Everyday is like Christmas day or my birthday. Because everyday is a gift surprising me in different ways.

This year has been a year of learning.

And to sum it all up...

I am learning to love.

that is my 2008.

And I am excited to see what God has in store for me in 2009!

Note : Thank you Glow United for making me feel at home. A moment with you guys is never dull but full of laughter and learning. Thank you for making my 2008 what it is today. You guys are awesome! :D

PS: since nobody start... I shall set the pace for everyone. Now get off your butts and start your writing! :P
